REG.RU joined the PCG’s digital assets
The hosting provider was acquired by the company-led consortium RU-WEB. INVESTMENTS
RU-WEB. INVESTMENTS (75% owned by the consortium of investors led by PCG, 25% by RBC Holding), acquired a 100% stake in REG.RU, Russia's largest domain name registrar and hosting provider.
Vladimir Tatarchuk, Chairman of the PCG Directors Board, commented on the deal: "Our strategy concerning the development of the digital business area is to create a market leader in providing integrated digital services for small and medium-sized businesses on a single site. The domain and website hosting business is the entry point into this market. We have studied foreign experience of building such businesses, and we see that there are opportunities for growth within this niche in Russia".
According to Nikolay Molibog, CEO of RBC, PJSC, creating a domain-based ecosystem has several unique competitive advantages. "Choosing a domain name for a future project is one of the first things a first-time entrepreneur does. We see inspiring opportunities to build a digital ecosystem of services: to help entrepreneurs build their online presence, better understand their customers and manage their interactions with them, promote their brand and sell products across all modern digital channels," he said.
"My partners and I have managed to build a company from scratch in 15 years, which has become one of the leaders in the Russian Internet infrastructure market," said Alexey Korolyuk, co-founder of REG.RU. “The deal lets us pass to the next stage in the company's development, which can create a new quality of business based on current services and new drivers. These are the goals that the new shareholders of REG.RU are pursuing. We wish them every success on this path".
